It's in! The actual final score of tonight's game predicted here

You can write it down. Call your bookie. Tell your friends. The only accurate prediction for the BCS title game is right here. This is what ran in the preview sections:

Hands down, this is the hardest prediction I’ve ever made. This has tortured me for a few weeks now. My gut just can’t figure it out. So I’ll go with my brain. It says Nick Saban can’t possibly lose to Les Miles three straight times. It says the Alabama defense had more time to focus on Jordan Jefferson instead of Jarrett Lee and Trent Richardson will get the ball in the clutch instead of messing with trick plays.

Alabama won’t over think this one. It’s a bread and butter game and Alabama has that chip on its shoulder. Florida learned what that meant two years ago in the SEC title game. My gut can’t decide, but my brain says LSU will run out of magic tonight in the Superdome.

Alabama 16, LSU 13

Take a look at my track record for the season:

Opp: prediction……actual … difference
Kent State: 45-7 ……….. 48-7 … 3 points
Penn State: 24-10……..27-11 … 4 points
North Texas: 52-3……..41-0 … 14 points
Arkansas: 27-17 ………..38-14 … 14 points
Florida: 27-20 …………..38-10 .. 21 points
Vanderbilt: 41-3 ……….34-0 ….10 points
Ole Miss: 38-3 …………..52-7 … 18 points
Tennessee: 38-3 ……….37-6 …. 4 points
LSU: 20-14 ………………6-9 …….19 points
Miss. St. 34-10…………24-7 ….13 points
Ga. Southern: 42-3…..45-21…21 points
Auburn: 38-10 ………..42-14 ..8 points

Kickers getting loose in Superdome

20120109-175231.jpg

Kickoff is still 96 minutes out and the eager fans are already taking their seats.

I would too if the ticket set me me back $1,000.

Coaches Nick Saban and Les Miles already took pregame walks across the field. Both are back in the dressing room.

Punters and kickers from both teams are out there now. LSU’s Drew Alleman is drilling 50-yarders with 15 yards to spare.

Both teams are kicking at same goalpost. I’ve never seen that.

More soon. Stay here.

BCS field logos revealed

20120109-170233.jpg

Breaking news, I know. But can you really get too much info tonight?

Well they pulled the covers off the end zones and center field logos.

So now you know what you’ll see on TV tonight.

Another panoramic photo from Superdome press box

This is about as high as you can get in the Superdome.

They moved the press box to the top of the building a few years back.

More to come.

Welcome to the Superdome field

It’s almost here.

Both marching bands are in place four hours before kicking off the BCS title game.

Everything is in place for what could be a classic night of college football. All the coverage you’ll need can be found here.

This is a little late, but I couldn’t resist this one.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune isn’t underplaying the game they’re gonna play in the Superdome.

We’re on the way to the dome now. Updates to follow.

A final check of ticket prices for BCS title game

They’re still high. In November, prices dipped as kickoff between Alabama and LSU approached.

That’s not the case this time. I heard a guy on the street last night saying $1,300 was the cheapest ticket he had available. The online scalpers weren’t much more reasonable.

The average ticket on FanSnap.com was priced right around $2,000. There’s nothing below $1,100 listed on the major ticket resale websites.

The high-end tickets run all the way into the $2,500-$3,000 range for the 7:30 p.m., kickoff in the Superdome.

Take a look for yourself at the various ticket resale sites:

Checking the point spread: Alabama still a favorite?

Update 5:14 p.m: With about two hours left until kickoff, nearly every sports book has Alabama up to a 2.5-point favorite. Click here for that.

—-

Original post: The point spreads have changed once again. Though it’s little indication of what will happen on the field tonight, it’s worth a glance.

VegasInsider.com says the betting money likes Alabama. LSU opened a slight favorite, but the Tide have slowly edged ahead at the sports books.

Alabama is as much as a 2.5-point favorite to beat LSU in the BCS Championship Game.

Click here for the composite view of the different sports books. Then click here to see all the movement in those numbers since they opened last month.

Video of insanity on Bourbon Street last night

Man, do you wish you were here last night. The scene on Bourbon Street was incredible last night. It was body to body out there. Take a look at the video I got from the media party balcony in the 500-block of Bourbon. There was an arrest, a rain storm, and an unhappy LSU fan.
