The Tony Mitchell saga officially has a final chapter.
Alabama just released a statement saying Mitchell and sophomore Charles Hankerson would not return next season.
Mitchell, the team’s second-leading scorer at 13.1 points, was suspended the final few weeks of his junior season. He missed the final 11 games of the season after violating unspecified team rules.
Hankerson was a go-to reserve averaging 3.6 points a game.
The two departures mark the third straight season players left the Alabama program. Justin Knox transfered to North Carolina following Anthony Grant’s first season. Last year, it was Jason Carter and Kendall Durant who left after one season.
