Josh Chapman is paying the price for playing much of his senior season at Alabama with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee.
Chapman failed his physical exam with the Indianapolis Colts, who took him in the fifth round of this year’s NFL draft. The Colts have placed him on the Physically Unable to Perform list, which means he can use the Colts’ facilities but cannot participate in practice.
His injury happened in an October win over Florida, but instead of having surgery, he toughed it out and continued playing as the Crimson Tide drove to a national title. He had surgery Jan. 17.
