Alabama landed three players on the Sports Illustrated preseason All-America team, and none of them play defense.
Center Barrett Jones and guard Chance Warmack made the first team, while tackle D.J. Fluker is on the second team.
Five LSU players made the squad including four on the first team. Defensive end Sam Montgomery, cornerback Tyrann Matheiu, punter Brad Wing and safety Eric Reid are first team, while
offensive lineman Chris Faulk joined Fluker on the second squad.
A former high-profile Alabama recruit, South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, made first team. So did Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones and South Carolina running back Marcus Latimore. The second team included Mississippi State cornerback Jonathan Banks and Florida place-kicker Caleb Sturgis.
Nobody from Michigan, Alabama’s opening opponent, made first or second team.
