Tide in the NFL: Big days for Johnson, Richardson, Ingram

Arizona safety Rashad Johnson, a fourth-year NFL player out of Alabama, intercepted a Matt Ryan pass on the first play of the Cardinals’ 23-19 loss to Atlanta.

Johnson returned it 34 yards to the Arizona 9, and the Cardinals eventually scored the game’s first touchdown. It marked Johnson’s second career interception, with his first coming in 2010 against Minnesota. He also had a tackle Sunday and a fumble recovery, although the Cardinals didn’t turn that turnover into points.

For the Falcons, wide receiver Julio Jones caught three passes for 33 yards.

–In Arlington, Texas, Cleveland lost to Dallas 23-20 in overtime as Browns running back Trent Richardson had another good game. He rushed for 95 yards on 28 carries and caught six passes for 49 yards.

Cowboys safety Charlie Peprah had one tackle.

–In Sunday night’s game, Baltimore linebacker Courtney Upshaw had three tackles in a 13-10 win over Pittsburgh. He recovered a fumble on the last play, returning it 5 yards.

–Defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry had three tackles and defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick two as the Cincinnati Bengals beat Kansas City 28-6. For the Chiefs, cornerback Javier Arenas had three tackles and returned three punts for 30 yards.

–Running back Mark Ingram rushed for 67 yards on 12 carries in New Orleans’ 38-17 win over Oakland. He scored a touchdown on a 27-yard run. Saints safety Roman Harper had a team-high 11 stops, one pass defended and one tackle for loss. He also intercepted a pass, his second of the year and sixth of his career. For the Raiders, linebacker Rolando McClain had 10 tackles, including one for loss.

–Philadelphia linebacker DeMeco Ryans had seven tackles in a 31-6 loss to Washington.

–Tampa Bay beat Carolina 27-21 in overtime as Bucs safety Mark Barron had three tackles, including one when he brought down Cam Newton 2 yards behind the line.

–In Buffalo’s 19-14 win over Miami, defensive lineman Marcell Dareus had four tackles and one pass defended.

–Houston beat Jacksonville 43-37 in overtime as cornerback Kareem Jackson had five tackles and one pass defended.

–Linebacker Dont’a Hightower and defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick each had two tackles as New England beat Indianapolis 59-24. Hightower also defended a pass.

–San Diego linebacker Jarret Johnson made a tackle in a 30-23 loss to Denver. His stop of Ronnie Hillman resulted in a 1-yard loss.
