True freshman Chris Black didn’t play Saturday in Alabama’s 32-28 win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, although he posted on Twitter he was ready if needed.
As it turned out, he wasn’t. Marvin Shinn and Cyrus Jones filled in as the fourth and fifth receivers behind Amari Cooper, Kevin Norwood and Christion Jones. Black had preseason shoulder surgery but returned to practice four weeks ago. He likely will redshirt this season, unless an emergency arises in the BCS National Championship Game.
