Thoughts from Saturday’s Alabama football practice

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — The Crimson Tide worked out Saturday morning in full pads before sending the players off for Christmas. They’ll get Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off before returning to work Wednesday.

Alabama practiced in its indoor facility for the third straight day. Head coach Nick Saban said he would like his team to practice in the same temperature in which it will play in Miami Gardens, Fla., for the BCS National Championship Game. He said he anticipates that being 65 to 70 degrees.

Freshman linebacker Denzel Devall rode the exercise bike after standing and watching Friday. He hurt his knee Wednesday as Alabama worked on blocking field goals and is listed as day-to-day.

Freshman D.J. Pettway worked out with the linebackers for the second straight day.
