The Atlanta Falcons lost 28-24 to San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game, but former Alabama receiver Julio Jones had a huge day.
Here is how The Associated Press described his day:
Julio Jones was (Matt) Ryan’s favorite receiver most of the day, finishing with 11 catches for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He hauled in a 46-yarder less than four minutes into the game, then made a dazzling grab in the left corner of the end zone for a 20-yard score. He got his left foot down, then planted his right foot about an inch inside the line — while cornerback Tarell Brown was all over him.
It topped a terrific regular season for Jones, in which he caught 79 passes for 1,198 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had six catches for 59 yards in a playoff win over Seattle. Only one former Crimson Tide player had a bigger year catching the ball in the NFL — Don Hutson gained 1,211 receiving yards and caught 17 scoring passes for Green Bay in 1942.
