Alabama noseguard Jesse Williams has returned home to Australia for a break before coming back for the NFL scouting combine, which will be Feb. 20-26 in Indianapolis.
The Brisbane Times’ Marissa Calligeros wrote about Williams’ arrival at Brisbane International Airport, and it’s a must-read for fans of Williams: Heavy landing: Monstar madness touches down.
Here’s a taste:
He’s the gentle giant set to secure a multi-million dollar pay deal in one of the most lucrative professional sporting leagues in the world.
Yet, Jesse Williams, the 22-year-old they call ‘‘Tha Monstar’’ for his imposing 193cm, 145kg frame, is a humble young man whose quest for fortune in the NFL is propelled by his burning desire to provide for his family and in particular, set his parents up for retirement.
Also, Alabama fans might like Calligeros’ description of Notre Dame in this sentence: “Having played an instrumental role in crushing Notre Dame’s barely Fighting Irish in this month’s national championship game, the Crimson Tide star is tipped to receive a professional contract worth something in the order of $6 million.”
