UA statements on Monday night arrests

At 11:14 am on Tuesday, the University of Alabama’s Director of Media Relations Cathy Andreen released the following statement.

“On Monday, Feb. 11, the University of Alabama Police Department received reports of two robberies, the first occurring at approximately 12:35 a.m. in the 800 block of Campus Drive and the second at approximately 1:20 a.m. in the 200 block of 7th Avenue. Both victims reported that they were assaulted and their belongings were taken.

“UAPD’s investigation led to the identification of suspects in both incidents. The investigation resulted in the following arrests on the evening of Feb. 11:

  • Eddie Williams – charged with two counts of second degree robbery and fraudulent use of a credit/debit card
  • Tyler Hayes – charged with two counts of second degree robbery
  • Dennis Pettway – charged with two counts of second degree robbery
  • Brent Calloway – charged with fraudulent use of a credit/debit card”

Athletic Director Mal Moore also released a statement.

This is a very serious matter and we are very disappointed in the actions that have resulted in the charges against these student-athletes. In this type of situation, the Athletics Department works in conjunction with the University. We will have more to say at the appropriate time.”
