Wallace Wade Stadium as seen Friday night.
The rumors aren’t positive surrounding the internet situation at Duke’s Wallace Wade Stadium tonight. Alabama writers have been warned all week about the potential pitfalls of covering this afternoon’s game in a stadium not accustomed to crowds this size.
So, with that, I hope it all comes together this afternoon so I can provide some insight from the game.

It’s not a stunning announcement, but Nick Saban said Wednesday morning that Mark Ingram will see the field Saturday at Duke.
Speaking on the weekly SEC teleconference, Saban said the extent of Ingram’s playing time had not been determined, but he will play a role Saturday in Durham.
The Heisman Trophy winner has been running and cutting just fine on the knee that suffered minor damage late in a Aug. 30 practice. It kept him from playing the first two weeks, but he’ll be back in the third.

We didn’t see him all last week, but Mark Ingram was back on the practice field during Monday’s media viewing period.
Sporting a brace on his left knee, but a regular white jersey instead of the black non-contact version reserved for injured players. He didn’t appear to be running or walking with a limp so his return Saturday at Duke looks like a decent bet. But you can judge for yourself.

The weekly wait for kickoff times began today when the league and its television partners rendered their first verdict this afternoon. Next Saturday’s SEC opener at Arkansas will be the 2:30 p.m. (Central) game on CBS.
Times and TV assignments are released 12 days in advance of the games, but the networks have the opportunity to postpone that decision a few times if it needs another week’s worth of results to decide which games mean more.

The teams just came out to warm up and Mark Ingram is not among those dressed for game action.
The Heisman Trophy winner is wearing the same red exercise pants and jersey with no pads he wore at last week’s game with San Jose State.
So, I guess the question has finally been answered. You won’t be seeing Ingram against Penn State.
Update: Linebacker Courtney Upshaw appears to be moving well on his sprained ankle after being hobbled earlier in the week at practice.

Asked about Mark Ingram’s knee on this morning’s SEC coaches teleconference, Nick Saban offered a little more insight into his status for the Penn State game.
“Mark is improving every day. He did dry-land running yesterday and we will continue to progress him day to day. He hasn’t had any swelling or any problems so if he can continue to progress … I would say he was probably not going to be ready to play this week. He might be ready by the game, but he won’t be able to practice enough to be ready.
“But I think after that, we have a chance to get him back if he continues to progress.”
In that spirit, weigh in on the new poll question.

It’s the mystery of the week in Tuscaloosa and Crimson Tide running back Trent Richardson faced it this evening.
Will Mark Ingram play Saturday against Penn State?
“I’m not giving up on that at all,” he said. “If he (plays), we’re going to be better. If he’s not, we’re still going to be good. We’re just waiting.”
The Heisman Trophy winner has been doing lots of coaching in practice this week since he’s sidelined with the minor knee injury suffered last Monday.
“I don’t know when he’ll be back, but hopefully he’ll be back soon,” Richardson said.

It was back to practice this Labor Day afternoon with Penn State coming to town in just a few days. Mark Ingram was not outside with the team during the brief media viewing period.
Linebacker Courtney Upshaw was moving very gingerly on his sprained ankle as you’ll see in the video. Also notice Marcell Dareus working with the defensive ends. He’ll still be out Saturday with that 2-game suspension handed down by the NCAA.
