For the second time this season, the Bama Blog is coming to you live from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. This time, it’s for the SEC Championship (a.k.a. the biggest game ever played in the history of humanity).

The gates are about to open to the shivering masses outside the chilly dome. The press box is filling up with all the big names in attendance.

Lane Kiffin on ESPN's Gameday

Wow. That’s bold. Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin is the special guest on ESPN’s popular Gameday television show. The boos are coming from those in crimson and in blue.

I wonder if the SEC knew that was coming? I can’t wait to see his final pick for today’s game.

Tim Tebow the receiver?

Well, not really. The Gator quarterback did some moonlighting as a pass catcher, however, in Friday’s practice inside the Georgia Dome heading into Saturday’s SEC Championship.

Tim Tebow appeared to enjoy his time squaring off with an assistant coach playing the role many assume he would play in the NFL. Check out the two videos captured on my handy point and shoot camera. More to come later.

Dunlap officially out for SEC title game

Dunlap out for SEC title game after DUI charge
MARK LONG,AP Sports Writer

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Top-ranked Florida will be without one of its best pass rushers against No. 2 Alabama in the Southeastern Conference championship game.

Defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested early Tuesday and charged with driving under the influence, just days before the biggest game of the season.

Dunlap, the defensive MVP of the Bowl Championship Series national title game in January, has started every game this season for the defending champs. He has 35 tackles and is tied for the team lead with seven sacks.

Report: Dunlap's father not hopeful son will play

The Orlando Sentinel tracked down the father of Florida defensive end Carlos Dunlap and found the pass rushing junior isn’t a good bet to play Saturday after his DUI arrest.

I really can’t wait to hear more about this situation. It is just so shocking when a player of that caliber makes such a bizarrely poor decision.

Florida starter charged with DUI

I am just learning more about the early-morning arrest of Florida’s starting defensive end Carlos Dunlap, so read more about the story in the Gainesville Sun.

Initial reaction: Wow.

Just days away from the SEC Championship and he’s asleep at the wheel after 3 a.m. This will be an interesting day. Stay tuned for more.

Welcome to SEC championship week

The madness is definitely upon us. The extra reporters attending today’s news conference showed how this week takes on a different level of importance. Here are some of the highlights you can expect to read more about in the coming days:

  • Mark Ingram is fine and Nick Saban said he should practice this afternoon. He doesn’t expect him to take any contact while recovering from the hip pointer suffered late in the Auburn game.
  • It turns out Cory Reamer had a hamstring issue last week that limited some of his practice time and playing time against Auburn. Ali Sharrief saw more action because of the previously unreported injury to Reamer.
  • Rolando McClain was named SEC defensive player of the week for his 12-tackle game at Auburn.
  • On the topic of Alabama’s lack of emotion to start the Iron Bowl, quarterback Greg McElroy called it “embarrassing.”

Bama back at No. 2 in BCS

Not that it makes any difference at this point, but Alabama jumped back over Texas to take the second spot in the most-recent BCS standings released this afternoon. Of course, the standings are academic since the winner of the Florida/Alabama SEC title game assures itself a spot in the national championship game.

The only way it will matter is if Texas loses in the Big 12 championship and the possibility of a Tide/Gator rematch in the BCS game comes up. Anyway, here is the top five:
