For the final time this season, Alabama tests its 19-game home court winning streak. Tonight’s NIT quarterfinal game with Miami has a ticket to Madison Square Garden at stake.

We're coming to you live from Oxford today

It is a gorgeous afternoon in Oxford, Miss. Naturally, we’re inside about to watch some basketball. We’re about 30 minutes from Alabama at Ole Miss in Tad Smith Coliseum.

Alabama players appeared loose during its first shoot around that ended 20 minutes ago. Charvez Davis rapped along with the song on the loud speaker.

There were a few Alabama fans wandering through campus early this afternoon. It’ll be interesting to see how many people travel to this one.

Live blogging from Alabama/Arkansas basketball

Nothing new to report from Toomer’s Corner so we’ll have to stick to Alabama basketball in today’s coverage.

Word is the 6 p.m. meeting with Arkansas is a sellout and with 20 minutes remaining before tipoff, the crowd is starting to fill in Coleman Coliseum. There was a decent crowd across the parking lot earlier for Alabama’s 5-1 baseball win over Alcorn State.

The crowd is filtering into Coleman Coliseum. Alternating sections have either red or white t-shirts to support the effort to make this place look really cool on ESPN. I watched a lady in a white t-shirt zone pocket the freebie in favor of her crimson jacket.

Live bloggin: Alabama hoops vs. South Alabama

Second half

Final: Alabama 72, South Alabama 50: The score will have to say it all for now. Too much to write. No time with which to write it all.

3:51, Tide 60, S. Alabama 43: It’s all but over now. The fouls are piling up. South Alabama came as close as 13 points before Tony Mitchell scored two quick baskets and ended the threat.

6:44, Tide 53, S. Alabama 37: There is no pace or rhythm again as South Alabama scored the last six points in a floor-burn fest of turnovers and ugly play. Jags shooting 25 percent this half and 28.8 for the game. Tide shooting percentage is 52.4.

12:54, Tide 45, S. Alab3ma 29: The Crimson Tide is starting to pull away with an 8-0 run.

15:42, Tide 37, S. Alabama 29: The teams traded baskets. That’s about it.

First half

Halftime, Tide 33, S. Alabama 23: Alabama outscored the guests 24-10 to close the half and take a quiet 10-point advantage into the locker room. Charvez Davis has 11 to lead the way thanks to his three 3-pointers. Is anyone reading this? Just say “yes” in the comment section.

Live blogging Bama hoops vs. Alabama A&M

Valentine

Pregame: This sports writer is excited. I just walked past the single greatest referee in all of college basketball. That’s right, Ted Valentine is in the house to add some spice to the dull atmosphere inside Coleman Coliseum.

The crowd must a very late arriving one or invisible. I wonder if yesterday’s football game took any of the Crimson Tide spirit out of anyone thinking of attending this afternoon. Either way, they’re about to tip off. Keep it here for all the updates you care to read.

First half

15:59, Alabama 11, A&M 7: Senario Hillman has five straight points and Chris Hines has four. Nothing too exciting to report just yet.

11:59, Alabama 17, A&M 9: The Tide just scored two baskets off turnovers in less than 10 seconds to take the nine-point advantage. Hillman now has seven points.

Troy at Alabama basketball second half

Alabama 79, Troy 60 (final): It wasn’t the most exciting game you’ll ever see. JaMychal Green was the Tide’s leading scorer with 17, Senario Hillman had 16, Trevor Releford 13 and Tony Michell 12.

Alabama 72, Troy 49 (5:22): Alabama just completed two successful ally-oops to stir the sleepy crowd back to consciousness. Tony Mitchell had another reverse oop and Senario Hillman had one of the conventional variety off a steal.
