Alabama slips in AP poll

Here’s the poll just released this morning. The voters rewarded LSU for beating a top-5 team in Oregon.

Alabama ranked highly in another preseason poll

The preseason Grantland Rice poll from the Football Writers Association of America was released this afternoon.

As in most this summer, Alabama and Oklahoma duked it out for the top spot. As in the AP and USA Today polls, the Sooners took the top spot followed closely by the Tide.

Can Alabama crack top 25 with win at Ole Miss?

Alabama has hovered just outside the top 25 of the Associated Press poll for the past few weeks. Traveling to Ole Miss on Saturday, does the Crimson Tide have a shot at the big time with a win?

It’ll need some help. Here’s the deal:

  • No. 22 Kentucky already lost this week at Arkansas and it plays host to 13th-ranked Florida tomorrow.
  • No other team ranked 20-25 lost midweek but a few face tough tests Saturday.
  • No. 23 St. John’s travels to 15th-ranked Villanova.
  • No. 21 Texas A&M plays at streaky Baylor.
  • Missouri, the No. 20 team, plays at Kansas State where former No.1 Kansas was blown away a few weeks back.

Of course, Alabama will have to take care of its business in Oxford. Considering how it looked Wednesday against Auburn, it could be interesting.

Alabama outside AP top 25

The voters in the Associated Press poll threw a few votes Alabama’s way, but were a few short of cracking the top 25.

The Crimson Tide got 15 points to come in 29th. Here’s what the bottom portion of the poll looks like:

“I really haven’t paid much attention to it,” he said. “For us, we’re excited about the opportunity that we have in front of us and proud of what our team has accomplished to this point.”

Alabama receives zero votes in coaches poll

The first poll of the day hit the streets a little bit ago and Alabama (18-8) is nowhere to be found on the USA Today coaches poll.

The teams at the bottom of last week’s poll simply didn’t lose, except for then-No. 23 St. Mary’s.  Only eight teams outside of the top-25 received votes this week.

The latest version of the top 25 just hit the streets and the Crimson Tide received votes for the second straight week.

The loss to Vanderbilt last Thursday helped keep the climb from moving any higher. Here’s a look at the bottom of the poll.

Idle Tide moves in polls

Alabama sat home Saturday but still saw movement in the polls.

The Associated Press moved the Crimson Tide up two spots to No. 15.

The coaches also rewarded Alabama for Nebraska’s loss in the Big 12 title game since the USA Today coaches poll lists the Tide at No. 18, up from 19th last week.

Alabama slips even further in polls

The Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls are on the street and there can’t be any surprised faces looking at how far the Crimson Tide dropped after Friday’s little meltdown in the Iron Bowl.

Alabama is No. 17 in the AP and No. 19 according to the coaches.

And the new BCS standings say …

Alabama is up to No. 6 after Roadblock Saturday just another Saturday of college football upsets. Utah leapfrogged the Crimson Tide with the Utes going from No. 8 to sixth.

The Tide can thank Michigan State and Missouri for the bump while sitting on the couch celebrating a bye week (and Nick Saban’s Halloween birthday).

Auburn slipped to No. 2 after beating Ole Miss while top-ranked Oregon moved up to No. 1 after beating USC. Get ready for plenty of “control your own destiny” talk from the ESPNers.
